CHURCH PERIODICAL CLUB ANNUAL REPORT

2007

Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.

I Peter 4:10

During my first year as CPC chair, I have made good progress on my education about this ministry . I have spent time with Johnetta Merritt, past chair and Ursula Baxley, National CPC President to learn the “CPC” ways. I have studied and helped to clarify how our Diocesan funds should be disbursed.  Parishioners in our diocese have made contributions this year  which have enabled us to continue our mission of providing free literature and related materials, both religious and secular, to people all over the world who need and request them.  This provides funds for Miles of Pennies and National Book Funds grants.

Miles of Pennies grants may be requested all during the year for children’s needs with the maximum grant of $844.80 (mile of pennies). National Book Funds grants for adult needs are granted Spring and Fall with no limit  on the amount of funds. We continued our commitment to helping our diocesan seminarians by providing our  annual gift of funds to six graduating seminarians.

I have provided displays and materials at the open board meeting in May and annual meeting in October. I also attended the Province III, ECW and CPC annual meeting in Washington in October. I was able to spend  time with Gloria Brown, CPC Province III, President and Ursula Baxley, National CPC President and Province  CPC Chairs which was a great learning opportunity for me.

CPC is a great ministry and I have learned that it is a hidden treasure that needs to be discovered by every parish. It is important that we communicate the need and the availability of grants to all parishioners in order to  bring this ministry new life.
